WHAT ABOUT THE WEST WILSON UTILITY DISTRICT LETTER AND TESTING FORM?

  • There is no action required on your part if you signed up with us for the spring start up process.
  • The letter and test report you receive from West Wilson Utility District is a reminder from them to get your device tested by the required date, usually June 1 of that year. We take care of all paperwork associated with the water department for all of our customers.

WHAT SETTINGS DO I NEED TO USE IN MY IRRIGATION TIMER?

  • Timer settings are a very personal thing. Your yard soil conditions, shade and proximity to your neighbors irrigation sprinkler heads, all affect the time you should water each Zone
  • A good starting place is 5-10 min per zone 3 to 4 times a week. Monitor your yard for wet or dry spots and adjust the time accordingly.
  • Also make sure your Rain Sensor is set to ON if you have one. If you do not have a rain sensor you should turn your timer off in rainy weather.
  • If you detect a particular zone that is too dry increase the time in that zone 10 to 20 percent.
  • If you see evidence of run off turn the time back on that zone. Run off does not help your yard. It only creates a large water bill and puts excess water in the storm drain. Click here to see an example watering schedule.

How can I reduce my water bill?

  • Check your timer for multiple start times. This is the number 1 reason for high water bills. If you have set more than 1 start time, the timer will run the program selected completely and start again at the next start time. If the times are the exact same, the timer just stacks them up and runs multiple times. Most timers have 4 start times available.
  • So if you have 4 zones and are running each zone for 15 min and you have programmed 4 start times your yard will be watering for a total of 4 hours!!!
